South Texas Portfolio Client
A South Texas Portfolio Client is defined as a company, individual or business entity that is seeking equity funding and:
- Has been selected to present to the Texas Emerging Technology Fund Advisory Council which convenes in Austin, TX; or
- Has been selected by the membership of the South Texas Angel Network (STAN) to present before a meeting of the full membership of STAN; or
- SATAI’s chief executive deems a Portfolio Client a special investment based on circumstances or maturity of the venture.
The designation as a South Texas Portfolio serves multiple purposes:
- Contact and investment information on South Texas Portfolio clients is made available (on a secure basis) to a limited number of accredited investors and a limited number of professional service providers, in an effort to provide investment opportunities to such individuals or firms.
- South Texas Portfolio clients serve as a relevant statistical sample to economic development professional in the South Texas region. This sample is used by such economic development professionals to assess activity levels of startup investment activity and other measures of economic growth.
- In order to promote an influx of investment dollars into the South Texas region, contact and investment information on South Texas Portfolio clients may be shared with venture capital funds and other funding sources outside of the South Texas region.
While SATAI cannot recommend or endorse any venture, particularly as to the ultimate financial attractiveness of the venture, designation as a South Texas Portfolio client implies to potential investors that a venture has a sound business plan in place, and key business, development, and financial strategies have been addressed.The venture is one that deserves serious consideration on the part of an investor.
